Marketing MBA Curriculum

Dr. Rogers's Marketing Class Marketing an organization’s product or services includes planning and executing development, pricing, promotion, and distribution to create customer satisfaction. Students with a concentration in Marketing Management are prepared for a wide variety of careers in product management, marketing research, advertising, retailing, distribution, customer relations, sales and technology development.

The MBA Marketing Management Concentration requires 15 hours of coursework. There are two required courses, MGMT 580 and 581. In addition, three electives must be chosen from MGMT 489, 523, 583, 584, 586, 587 and 588. Other Anderson School or UNM courses may be substituted with prior written consent of a faculty advisor.

Concentration classes are generally offered only once per year and never in the summer. All classes have at least one prerequisite and these prerequisites are strictly enforced. Thus, it is important for students to plan their course of study well in advance to ensure that prerequisites are taken early.


Notes/Recommendations

1. MGMT 522 is a prerequisite for all graduate marketing courses.
2. Both MGMT 580 and 581 should be taken before or concurrent to MGMT 489, 523, 584, 586, 587 and 588.
3. You are your own best advisor. You should know the requirements for graduation and how you are going to fulfill them. The Marketing Faculty and Anderson MBA Advisor are available to assist you in planning your curriculum. You should seek advice prior to making important decisions.


Dual Concentration Program

Students may pursue a dual concentration in marketing and Operations Management by taking as few as 21 credit hours, or only two additional courses. To obtain the dual concentration the following courses should be selected:

  • The required courses for the Marketing concentration: 580 and 581
  • Three of the four electives acceptable for either concentration: 523, 586, 588, and 594 Advanced Diagnostic Tools.
  • And two additional Operations Management electives.
